Bilberry Liquid Extract Vaccinium myrtillus .
Bilberry is used for the treatment of poor night vision, day blindness, cataracts, macular regeneration and glaucoma. However, their Doctor/Optometrist on a regular basis should assist people with glaucoma and those with acute glaucoma should not depend on Bilberry use alone. In Italy there was a study done on Bilberries and those in the early stage of cataracts, 50 people were given Bilberries three times a day. The treatment stopped the progression of the cataracts in 97% of the cases. It can also be used to treat urinary tract infections, kidney stones, and diarrhea. There is some evidence that Bilberry can also be helpful for varicose veins. Scientific research on Bilberry showed that it contains a powerful substance known as anthocyanosides, which strengthens the walls of blood vessels, reduces inflammation, and generally stabilizes all tissues containing collagen (basic building block of veins, arteries, capillaries and connective tissue). Bilberry is used as an antiseptic and an anti-inflammatory. It is effective to treat inflammation of the mucus membranes of the mouth and throat. Recent research has shown that Bilberry extract has promising effect on anti-ulcer activity.
