Horsechestnut
Horsechestnut Standardized by Nature's Way.
German research of this herb has led to the approval of a Horse Chestnut extract for treating leg vein diseases. In Germany, Horse Chestnut is one of the most widely sold herb products, third only to Gingko and St. John’s Wort. In Japan, an injectable form of Horse Chestnut is used to reduce inflammation after surgery or injury; however, this form is not available in the United States. Even though Horse Chestnut is used to treat varicose veins, it has not been shown to reduce the visibility of varicose veins. In conjunction with conventional medicine, this herb has been used to treat phlebitis as well; however, due to the severity of this disease, a doctor’s supervision is required. It is also used to reduce the swelling and discomfort of hemorrhoids.
