Hyssop Hyssopus officinalis
Hyssop promotes the expulsion of mucus from the respiratory tract. This herb relieves congestion, regulates blood pressure and eliminates gas. Hyssop is also said to be good for circulatory problems, epilepsy, fever, gout, and weight problems. Used externally in a poultice, Hyssop helps speed bruise and wound healing, and relieves muscular rheumatism. As a tea, Hyssop can settle an upset stomach, and as part of a soup, this herb helps reduce the effects of asthma.
Used since Biblical times as a cathartic, Hyssop is still used to cleanse and detoxify the intestinal tract. When feeling overworked or stressed, try Hyssop to relieve anxiety, soothe the nerves and enhance mental clarity. It's also a time-honored herb that has been used to relieve many respiratory ailments.
Purge me with Hyssop, and I shall be clean;
wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow" - Psalms 51:7
